SNU Chennai Wins Top Prize at Encryptocon Hackathon

Shiv Nadar University Chennai (SNU Chennai) is celebrating a major victory! Our talented students emerged triumphant at the Encryptocon Hackathon, organized by the prestigious Shaastra, IIT Madras and Temenos.

Over 300 teams and 900 participants battled it out in this thrilling 24-hour challenge. 7 SNU Chennai teams participated, with an impressive 4 advancing to the top 6.

The focus? "Behavior Analysis of Financial Fraudulent Transactions." In a world where online banking reigns supreme, this issue is more pertinent than ever. A staggering 5% of global corporate revenue, $4.7 trillion, is lost to fraudsters (ACFE report). Shockingly, 93% of banking fraud occurs online (Financial Crime Report Q2 2021), making robust detection systems vital.

SNU Chennai students devised a cutting-edge solution: a behavioral analytics SaaS system powered by machine learning (ML) algorithms for real-time fraud detection.
